Nino Haratischwili's »The Cat And The General« nominated for the German Book Prize 2018

The new novel by the bestselling author Nino Haratischwili has been selected for the longlist for the German Book Prize

The German Book Prize is presented to the best German-language novel just before the start of the Frankfurt Book Fair as an annual award from the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels Stiftung – the Foundation of the German Publishers & Booksellers Association. The Prize is intended to draw attention beyond national borders to authors writing in German, to reading and to the keynote medium of the book.

Nino Haratischwili, geboren 1983 in Tbilissi/Georgien, ist preisgekrönte Theaterautorin, –regisseurin und Romanautorin. Ihr großes Familienepos Das achte Leben (Für Brilka), in 25 Sprachen übersetzt, avancierte zum weltweiten Bestseller, eine große internationale Verfilmung ist in Vorbereitung. Ihr Werk wurde vielfach ausgezeichnet, u. a. mit dem Anna-Seghers-Literaturpreis, dem Bertolt-Brecht-Preis und dem Schiller-Gedächtnispreis, ihr Roman Die Katze und der General stand auf der Shortlist für den Deutschen Buchpreis 2018. Heute lebt die Autorin in Berlin.
