The international bestseller of the award-winning author, translated into English by Charlotte Collins and Ruth Martin, nominated for the prestigious International Booker Prize
This outstanding family saga, published in German language in 2014, is an extraordinary phenomenon in so many different ways: about 300.000 copies sold in Germany, awarded several prizes e. g. the Anna Seghers Prize, the Bertolt Brecht Prize, the Schiller Memorial Prize and others, more than 70.000 copies sold in the Netherlands (atlas contact), altogether 15 translation rights sold so far and still ongoing negotiations – lately sold to Norway (Aschehoug), Denmark (Gutkind), Sweden (it-lit), Hungary (Európa) and Russia (AST).
The winner of the International Booker Prize will be announced on 19th of May, we keep our fingers crossed for the shortlist on 2nd of April!
